Heat Pump Planning Team Lead
Ready to find true purpose in your work?
About Aira - Help us plan the future of energy needs
At Aira, we’re changing the way homes are heated.
Heating accounts for a significant share of Europe’s carbon emissions, and our mission is simple: make clean energy a practical, accessible choice for millions of households.
We started with intelligent heat pumps. Now we’re building a complete clean-energy ecosystem across heat pumps, solar, battery storage and smarter home energy technology.
And as we continue to grow across the UK, we’re looking for a Heat Pump Planning Team Lead to help us deliver an exceptional experience for every customer.
About the role
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves leading people, solving problems and making things happen.
Reporting to our Planning Manager, you’ll lead and support a team of Heat Pump Planning Agents responsible for moving customers smoothly from sales handover through planning, installation and post-install completion.
You’ll be right at the heart of our UK operation – keeping workloads moving, coaching your team, removing blockers and making sure customers always know what happens next.
It’s a fast-paced role where priorities can change quickly, so we’re looking for someone who brings energy, organisation and calm leadership when things get busy.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead your team day to day, creating an environment where people take ownership, collaborate and deliver great customer outcomes.
That means coaching and developing Planning Agents, running regular one-to-ones and team sessions, balancing workloads and helping new starters quickly get up to speed.
You’ll also keep a close eye on the customer journey – making sure jobs are progressing, actions are completed, records are accurate and anything at risk of delay is identified early.
When challenges arise, you’ll help the team find solutions.
Whether that means working with Technical Design, Sales, Installations, Customer Care or Logistics, you’ll bring the right people together and keep things moving.
You’ll also:
Monitor team performance against KPIs, service levels and quality standards.
Review outstanding actions, ageing cases and urgent customer priorities.
Coach colleagues where additional support or development is needed.
Act as the first point of escalation for more complex planning or customer issues.
Ensure customer records and planning information are accurate and up to date.
Support key planning and compliance activity including DNO requirements, planning permission and Boiler Upgrade Scheme processes.
Spot recurring problems and work with the Planning Manager to improve how we operate.
Support the introduction of new tools, processes and smarter ways of working.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to know everything about heat pumps on day one.
What matters most is that you’re a confident people leader who understands operational delivery and knows how to keep both customers and teams moving forward.
You’ll ideally bring:
Experience within planning, scheduling, customer operations, installations or another fast-paced operational environment.
Previous experience supervising, coaching or supporting a team.
Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
The ability to manage multiple customer journeys, cases or projects at the same time.
Confidence dealing with complex situations and customer escalations.
Experience working with KPIs, service levels and operational targets.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right.
The confidence to work across different teams and build strong working relationships.
Experience using CRM, workflow or job-management systems – HubSpot experience would be a bonus.
Experience within heat pumps, renewable energy, heating, construction or home installation services would be advantageous, as would knowledge of MCS, DNO processes, planning permission or the Boiler Upgrade Scheme – but these aren’t essential if you bring the right operational leadership experience.
Why join Aira?
Because this isn’t just another planning role.
You’ll be joining a growing business at an exciting point in its journey, with the opportunity to help shape how our UK operation develops and scales.
You’ll have real responsibility, plenty of variety and the chance to build your career within one of Europe’s most ambitious clean-energy companies.
What we offer

Hybrid working from our Manchester office, Trafford Park, M41 7LY
